I have four grown children (Jamie Gentry, Marc Perron Jr., Melissa Perron, and Sasha Perron), and three grandchildren, Jai Govender, Jasper McConnachie, and JudeMcConnachie.

I have accepted the nomination to serve on Council because I want to contribute to our Nation’s work to return to being a sovereign Nation built on the rich culture, language, traditions and systems of our Kwakwaka'wakw people.

I also want to see all of our members involved in the work of our Nation’s Council. Since our 2022 election, I have taken part in as many Council meetings as possible so I could understand the kinds of issues our Nation faces on a day to day basis. I believe it is important for each of us to know about these issues and challenges so we can weigh-in and contribute ideas and solutions. We do this for our children and our grandchildren, but we also do the important work that our parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousin did over the course of their lifetimes. Presently I am a representative with Primerica Financial Services, with two licenses a life insurance license and a Securities licenses. I am licensed to educate on how to get out of debt, save for non-working years through asking questions on what they and putting a plan in place so they get to where they want to be financially. Very gratifying making a difference for families!

The experience I bring to the Council are many years of working in our community in the clerical field in FN organization (Victoria Native Friendship Centre, Native Affairs, First Citizens Fund, First Peoples Cultural Foundation, UVic/First Peoples House) Presently, I am educating families in the financial field to help them make informed decisions about their finances.

Volunteer: , and was a volunteer parent at our children’s schools organization Cultural Activities for FN students, North American Indigenous Games, Organizer for Dance Performances, North American Indigenous Gmes as a Volleyball Coach, Coached 9 – 12 year old youth Soccer teams.

My life experiences and skills have helped me gain strength in working as a team player, communication, listening, finding solutions, and witness the many programs available to our Nation which I am excited to be involved with. As well understand the importance of regular communication with the team and members. My goal is to put 100% of my energy in ensuring our Nation has programs for both youth and elders, and members. Making sure there are committees for Treaty, Education, Governance & Election Code, Homelessness and any other committees our Nation would like to see in place.
